I’m real proud of this song; I worked a long time on it and had to rewrite it several times. It’s provided me a lot of catharsis, and I stretched myself vocally to get it to where I wanted.
This might be the last song I post for a while, since I'll be traveling for the rest of the summer, spending time with family and friends. Hope you enjoy it!
Lyrics: Esmeralda, your face was pink Esmeralda, your eyes were green Oh Esmeralda, what color was I When first I laid my eyes on you? I see these poems weren't enough To keep you waiting for my love Oh Esmeralda, we've turned the page Of a book we'll never read again When will I be free To live the way that I please? Esmeralda, I'm sorry I loved you Oh Esmeralda, I'm sorry I loved you Will I see you again? Or was I dreaming? And if I'm dreaming Please wake me up Please wake me up When first we met, I didn't see How deep it goes, your deadly truth Oh Esmeralda, give me your ring And I'll keep it for another girl's dream My hands were soft, and yours were rough Your heart was cold, now mine is stone Oh Esmeralda, why did you waste my time If you knew I was never enough? When will I be free To live the way that I please? Esmeralda, I'm sorry I loved you Oh Esmeralda, I'm sorry I loved you And will I see you again? Or was I dreaming? And if I'm dreaming Please wake me up Please wake me up Esmeralda, tonight we drink Esmeralda, tomorrow is new Oh Esmeralda, keep what you took From me, don't give it back I'll write a new song for a new one You'll be this old song I sing years from now Oh Esmeralda, look at you now You're just words and music on a page And this how I can be free To live the way that I please Esmeralda, I thank you For this song Oh Esmeralda, I thank you For this song And I won't see you again 'Cause I'm done dreaming And if I'm dreaming Your song will wake me up Your song will wake me up So Esmeralda, I thank you For this song So Esmeralda, I thank you For this song
